Minnetonka Schools to Celebrate Homecoming on September 23

Homecoming is an exciting time for the Minnetonka community to come together as a District and enjoy the variety of events that occur throughout the week.

"I love everything about Homecoming,” said Karianna Lien, a senior representative on student government. “My favorite part is just seeing the community come together and celebrate Minnetonka for what it is.”

Throughout the Homecoming school week—September 19-23—high school students will take part in themed spirit days, including Pajama Day, Monochrome Day, Country vs Country Club Day, Duo/Twin Day and Tonka Pride Day. MHS will also host a Powder Puff football game on Tuesday, September 20, a Pepfest on Friday, September 23, and a Homecoming Dance on Saturday, September 24.

Other schools in the district are also celebrating Homecoming with spirit days and opportunities for student involvement.

On Friday, September 23, the Homecoming Parade will take place after school in downtown Excelsior from 4-4:45 p.m. and the Homecoming Game will take place at 7 p.m. at Einer Anderson Stadium, versus Champlin Park. Game tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults. The student section theme is a “blue out,” so high school students, be sure to wear your Homecoming tees!

This year, tickets for both the game and the dance, as well as Homecoming tees, may only be purchased online. Homecoming tees will then be picked up in the Commons at MHS during lunches.

“Homecoming is one of my favorite parts of the year,” concluded Lien. “From Powder Puff to the Pepfest, it produces memories that last a lifetime.”

The Minnetonka Alumni Association also hosts its annual awards brunch during Homecoming weekend. This year's event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Tickets are free to the public, but must be reserved online. Learn more and register here.
